Your Google Pixel 3 could soon be expensive paper weight

If you are a Google Pixel 3 or 3 XL  user who can't go without a phone for a couple of hours, it might be wise to start looking for a new phone.

While Pixel 3 series has been facing a slew of complaints over the years from overheating to quickly drained battery, and quite recently there has been an increase in the number of users complaining on Google forums and Reddit about hard bricked Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL and Google hasn't offered a solution yet.

Many users are finding their devices stuck in EDL mode (Emergency Download) which allows users to forcefully flash the phone's firmware just in case it is messed up from events like interrupted firmware flashing. Ideally, users have to manually enter EDL mode. But in this case, the phones are unresponsive and on plugging into a computer is listed as "“QUSB_BULK_CID” which confirms EDL mode.

With the Reddit thread being over 5 months old and no resolution in sight, it is very less likely that these bricked devices will ever be revived. Soon heaps of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL might be on the way to recycling facilities and landfills with all Pixel 3 devices out of warranty. With Pixel 6 launch around the corner, it might not be wise for Google to stay silent on this for long.
