Laptops are becoming more and more powerful by the hour and this HP Omen is one of the most powerful laptops at this price range. With a powerful Nvidia GTX 1650Ti graphics card, this is one laptop that is hard to beat.

The laptop is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5-4600H processor. Today AMD processors are outperforming their Intel counterparts and HP has made an excellent decision by going with AMD rather than with Intel. It has a base speed of 3.0GHz and a maximum clock speed of 4.0GHz. The processor is a hexacore processor to aid in multitasking and gaming. Today's games perform excellently and can use all six cores of the processor so that it can have excellent performance.

The graphics card in this laptop is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650Ti. The graphics card is a 4GB graphics card and offers great performance during gaming. The laptop can play games at High settings and can play all the latest titles. The graphics card also gives great frame rates during gaming.

The laptop has 8GB of graphics card and it is a single RAM so there is another slot where you can upgrade. The RAM can be upgraded to 16GB by buying an extra RAM. RAM sticks are cheap nowadays and can be upgraded easily.

The laptop weighs 2.3kg making it portable. The display on the laptop is a 15.6" Full HD display with a resolution of 1920x1080. The display has a refresh rate of 60Hz making it suitable for gaming. The bezels on the display are ultra-thin making it look good.

The keyboard on the laptop is great to type on. It features anti-ghosting so that you can press multiple keys at the same time. The keyboard is backlit so that you can use it at night times also without having to fumble about as to the location of the keys.

This laptop offers great performance and excellent value for money. With newer laptops being released every day this is one of the best and can stand the test of time.

Acer Nitro 7

Storage: 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD

The best laptop under 80000 hands down is the Acer Nitro 7, a position offered to it by its great CPU, great graphics card and storage with a combination of SSD and HDD.

Acer Nitro 7 is a gorgeous laptop to look at. One look, and you'd crave for it to be at home on your desktop or laptop. Those grills just ooze perfection. But laptops are not all about beauty, how about performance? The vents behind the laptop look like something out of a Star Wars movie and the matte finish on the laptop is simple perfection.

On the performance front, the Acer Nitro 7 performs brilliantly, which is partly due to the 9th generation Intel Core i7-9750H processor. The processor has a base speed of 2.6GHz, which alone is extremely fast, and can go up to 4.5GHz with a turbo boost. Turbo Boost is the technology by which Intel processors go on a short burst of high-speed performance. The processor cannot keep up this speed due to the high increase in temperature.

For graphics, the laptop has nothing but the best. An Nvidia 1650 GTX offers us 4GB of dedicated DDR5 video memory. This makes the laptop perfect for both gaming and video editing. Nvidia claims that the GTX 1650 performs at par with the GTX 1070, which was one of our favourite graphics cards of yesteryear.

The laptop is extreme value for money and offers 8 GB of DDR4 RAM. For permanent storage, the laptop has a 256GB SSD and 1 TB HDD. In case you feel that any of these is low, you can always upgrade. The RAM can be upgraded to 32GB and HDD and SSD to how much your pocket allows.

The laptop features a 15.6-inch IPS display which has a mindblowing refresh rate of 144Hz. The display is pretty accurate and is a joy to work on and to play on.

Pros

  • Mindblowing performance from GTX1650
  • A great amount of storage due to dual storage (HDD and SSD)

Cons

  • Battery life is not that great

MSI Bravo 15

CPU: AMD Ryzen7-4800H processor
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX5500M 4GB Graphics

Screen: 15.6" FHD (1920*1080)
Storage: 512GB NVMe M.2 SSD

MSI is not a brand that is famous in India, but then maybe that has got something to do with the marketing tactics employed by the company or the fact that there is almost zero marketing in India. MSI is a Taiwanese company which was founded in 1986. That means it has got pedigree.

MSI has decided to go a bit against convention by going with pairing of an AMD processor and an AMD graphics card. Let's look into the details of this. The processor in the laptop is an AMD Ryzen 7 - 4800H. The processor is an octa-core processor and can compete with the Intel i7 processor any day.

The processor has two threads per core giving it a thread count of 16. It has a base clock speed of 2.9GHz and a maximum turbo clock speed of 4.2GHz. Overall I am pretty impressed by the performance offered by the processor.

The graphics card in the machine is an AMD Radeon RX5500M. The graphics card has the power to play all of the latest titles, though asking it to play it in Ultra might be a bit too much. The graphics card is a 4GB graphics card.

For storage, the laptop comes with a 512GB SSD. This should be enough to carry out most of the storage requirements that you have. If that is not the case, you can easily upgrade the storage. The usage of an SSD instead of a traditional HDD also keeps the speed at which the laptop and games load pretty fast.

For RAM, it has a pair of 8GB DDR4 memory sticks taking the memory to 16GB in total.

The display is an IPS level display and is Full HD. This means great clarity while gaming. This would give you an immersive experience. The size of the screen is 15.6"  and has a refresh rate of 144Hz. The bezels around the screen are extremely thin making the laptop very likable.

The laptop comes with a 1-year carry-in warranty to give you peace of mind. Overall, I am pretty happy with the laptop and the way MSI has taken the risk of making the laptop all AMD.

Omen by HP

CPU: 2.40GHz Intel Core i5-9300H 9th Gen processor
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1650 4GB Graphics
RAM: 8 GB DDR4 RAM, expandable up to 32 GB SDRAM
Screen: 15.6-inch with IPS technology and 144Hz refresh rate
Storage: 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD

This is one of our personal favourites since they started offering performance laptops for a cheaper price. But this is not enough to unsettle Acer Nitro 7 since it offers only an i5 processor compared to the i7 which comes with Acer Nitro 7. But the rest of the things, it is the same as the Acer Nitro.

HP Omen offers an Intel Core i5-9300H processor. It is a 9th-generation processor based on Coffee Lake architecture. The processor has a base speed of 2.40GHz and can go up to 4.10GHz with Turbo Boost. The processor is extremely fast and your gaming experience will not be hampered by the processor. Gaming is mostly dictated by the GPU, and when buying a laptop we need to ensure that the CPU does not bottleneck the GPU, and it does not do that here.

In the graphics section, the laptop features an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Graphics card which has 4GB of video buffer. The card is extremely performant and you can play all the latest titles in at least medium settings.

The laptop has only 8GB of DDR4 memory, but it can be upgraded to up to 32GB, and RAM sticks are pretty cheap nowadays.

For more permanent storage requirements the laptop features a 256GB SSD along with 1TB HDD. The SSD ensures that you won't have to wait much for the laptop to boot, and the HDD will ensure that you don't run out of space while stuffing all of your beloved games in the laptop.

The keyboard is gorgeous and is RGB-zone lit. You can control the colour of each zone on the keyboard. The keys are well spaced making typing a breeze. The laptop also features Bang and Olufsen speakers to enhance your audio experience.

Pros

  • Great keyboard
  • Excellent performance

Cons

  • Build quality

Lenovo has made a powerful laptop for gaming with the L340 laptop. The laptop which is powered by a ninth-generation Intel processor also comes with a 4GB graphics card.

The laptop has an Intel 9th generation Intel Core i7-9750HF processor.  The processor is a Hexa core processor (6 cores) and comes with a base speed of 2.6 GHz and a maximum turbo clock speed of 4.5 GHz. This should handle all the gaming needs of yours. The processor is very powerful and your laptop will work seamlessly.

The graphics card present in the Lenovo Ideapad is a 4 GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. It is a latest-generation processor and is meant to be a replacement for the previous generation graphics card.

It offers over 70% more performance than the outgoing GTX 1050 graphics card. This means you can play some of the latest games at Ultra settings and all of the new titles at High or Medium settings.

The cooling in the laptop is also great and you can keep gaming for hours without worrying about it.

For storage, the laptop has a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. The SSD is there to improve the performance of the laptop marginally. The SSD improves the boot times of the laptop and the loading times of games.

SSDs are almost 3 times faster than traditional HDDs. Windows take 30 s to boot on HDD compared to 10s on a similarly powered laptop with SSD. Gaming performance is also improved due to SSD.

The laptop comes with 8GB of DDR4 RAM to provide enough memory for gaming and productivity tasks. You can open as many tabs as you want. The RAM can be upgraded to up to 32GB if you want.

The laptop comes with a 1-year warranty and Windows installed. Overall one of the best laptops under 80000, and great for gaming.

ASUS ROG Strix G15

CPU: 10th Generation Core Intel i5-10300H
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti 4GB Graphics
RAM: 8 GB RAM
Screen: 15.6-inch screen with (1920X1080) full HD display
Storage: 1 TB SSD

This is a new offering from Asus and we are pretty happy with it. The design is other worldly and the cooling offered by the laptop is great for gaming.

The laptop is powered by a 10th-generation Intel Core i5 10300H processor. The processor is a quad-core processor with a base speed of 2.50GHz and a maximum clock speed of 4.50GHz. The processor offers performance enough for all your needs; be it professional or gaming.

The processor also features multi-threading. It is a feature by which one core can behave like multiple cores by sharing the time spend on it by an application.  This makes the processor better at multitasking.

In the graphics department, the laptop features an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti. A graphics card that offers unmatched performance on this budget. The laptop is great for playing most of the latest titles without breaking much of a sweat.

The graphics card is a 4GB graphics card which enables it to play even the most demanding games.

The laptop has 8GB of DDR4 RAM which can be upgraded if the need arises. This won't unless you're editing huge video files.

For storage, the laptop features a 1TB SSD. We are happy that Asus went with SSD instead of a traditional HDD because the performance gain offered by the Hard disk is huge. Loading times for apps and games have been hugely reduced due to SSD.

The display on the laptop is a 15.6" FHD screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The screen has a resolution of 1920x1080. The display is vivid and offers a great viewing experience for both gaming and other tasks.

Overall a great value for money that you'd love to have a home.

ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7-3750H processor
Graphics:NVIDIA GTX 1650 4GB Graphics
RAM:8 GB DDR4 RAM, expandable up to 32 GB SDRAM
Screen:15.6-inch with IPS technology and 120Hz refresh rate
Storage: 512GB SSD

Asus TUF Gaming looks pretty excellent, with its metallic finish and sharp corners. The thin bezels running around the screen make the laptop look gorgeous, and a joy to play games on.

Asus has decided to go against the flow and instead take a leap of faith and use an AMD processor instead of the Intel counterpart and it has gone well with it. The AMD Ryzen 7-3750H is a powerful processor and can easily unsettle other Intel processors. Though not powerful as the latest generation Intel i7 this is a beast.

The processor has a base speed of 2.3GHz and a turbo speed of 4.0GHz. It can do most if not all of the tasks you throw at it with relative ease.

In the graphics department, the laptop features an Nvidia GTX 1650 Graphics Card.

This doesn’t come with an HDD like the previous laptops but has a 512GB SSD instead. It also has 8GB RAM. But then it has a  refresh rate of 120Hz. But again, it comes down to personal choice.

Pros

  • Great display with 120 Hz refresh rate
  • Excellent cooling

Cons

  • only 512 GB storage

ASUS ZenBook 13

CPU: 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8565U processor
Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 620 Graphics
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 RAM
Screen: 33.78cm (13.3”) LED-backlit FHD (1920 x 1080) 16:9 standard display
Storage: PCIe NVMe 512GB M.2 SSD

The Asus ZenBook is a premium offering from Asus for office goers. The laptop is an excellent-looking laptop with mind-blowing performance.

The laptop is powered by an 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8565U processor. The processor is a quad-core processor with a base speed of 1.8GHz and a maximum clock speed of up to 4.6GHz. The processor also comes with 8MB of Intel Smart Cache. The processor is more than enough for your daily office requirements.

The processor does not have a dedicated graphics card, but it is not necessary for office goers. It has an Intel UHD Graphics 620 graphics card which is integrated into the CPU. Unless your game or do heavy video editing, it is worthless to spend your money on a laptop with a graphics card. Also, laptops with graphics cards tend to be bulky because of their cooling requirements.

The laptop has 8GB of DDR3 RAM which will cater to all your memory needs. You can open multiple browser tabs or even Excel or Word Documents and edit them without lag or stutter of any sort.

For storage, the laptop has a 512GB SSD. The fact that it is an SSD means, it gives immense performance gains while booting and opening applications. The faster storage helps to load data into the RAM faster and thereby reducing the time taken for the application to load.

The laptop comes preloaded with Windows 10 Home Edition. The laptop is easily portable owing to it having only 1.29 kg.

The keyboard is a fully lit keyboard with enough space between the keys to make typing easy. The lack of a Numpad is sorted by the touchpad having the dual purpose of being a touchpad and a Numpad which we think is sort of cool.

The audio in the laptop is certified by Harman Kardon. Movie watching on this laptop is bliss because of the high-quality audio system that this laptop has.

Also when speaking of movie watching, let's get to the topic of displays. The laptop has a 13.3" LED-backlit FHD (1920x1080) display. The display is a 4-sided NanoEdge display with a 95% screen-to-body ratio, which means almost zero bezels.  The display also supports a 100% sRGB colour gamut, which gives rise to vibrant colours and high picture quality.

The laptop also features Face Login with an advanced 3D infrared HD camera. Overall we feel this is a great laptop with great features and we are pretty sure you'd love carrying it to the office every day.

Pros

  • Great display
  • Lightweight
  • Audio by Harman Kardon

Cons

  • doesn't have a graphics card

What to expect in this price range

80000 is a pretty high price range and you should get a solid machine for both gaming and office purposes. Though we wouldn't say the gaming laptop will be extremely powerful, but enough to play all of the latest titles. For Office laptops, you'll get all the power you need.

Processor

For Processors, don't settle for anything under the 9th generation Intel i5 processor or its AMD counterpart. The 9th generation i5 processor is at par, if not better than the 8th generation i7 processor, and therefore always look at the numbers following the i7.

Video Card

For a gaming laptop, the major thing to look for is the graphics card. And the best you can get is Nvidia GTX 1650 or Nvidia GTX 1050. GTX 1650 will give you around 35% more performance than, 1050, and is the latest card, so you should get a laptop with at least 1650. For comparison between the graphics cards, Nvidia GTX 1650 vs 1050 Ti: How much faster is Nvidia’s new graphics card?

RAM

The more the merrier is the motto when it comes to RAM. Though we recommend 16GB, we would be more than happy to work with a laptop which has just 8GB of RAM. And unlike a video card and processor, you can increase the RAM any day. So don't sweat much over it.

Storage

For storage, don't go for a traditional HDD. Pick either a laptop with both SSD and an HDD or one with just an SSD. SSDs perform marginally well over traditional Hard Disk Drives, and you'll see your boot times drop to less than half with an SSD. Also loading times for games, and the times between missions will also be lower for an SSD.
