Best laptops for IIT students (2023)

Students owning a laptop has become less of a fashion statement and more of a requirement in the modern education system. Corona's lockdown changed the entire landscape of the way education is consumed.

The role of laptops has become ever so prevalent for IIT students since they are required to source numerous references to construct their study material.

It is paramount for an IIT student to purchase a laptop with the right specifications. It is also important to have an eye on the budget of the laptop.

Not all laptops which have the right specification produce the desired output. Here are the handpicked laptops for IIT students.

A small guide to getting the best laptop for IIT Students

When I started college I made the dumb decision of getting a stupid laptop that didn't get things done. So today, I want to make sure that you don't make the same mistakes which I made.

The most important part of a laptop is the processor. Get the right processor and the laptop will last for a longer while. The latest processor released is the 13th generation Intel processor. The performance difference between generations is very high. For example, the Intel i5-13600K is more powerful than the Intel i7-12700K and both have almost the same price. So always go for the latest generation processor.

A graphics card is not a must for a laptop. But the following situations need a graphics card.
1. Gaming
2. Studying AI ML (to run simulations), you can also use Google Cloud, so this is not so mandatory
3. Editing videos

So if you're getting a graphics card also, go for the latest generation. 40 series is the latest set of graphics cards for Nvidia.

For RAM, 8GB is the bare minimum, but the more the merrier and the same for storage. You can go for a 512GB SSD (SSD and not HDD), but more is not going to hurt.

Look for laptops that have a longer warranty period. The chances that your laptop is going to get damaged is high during college years, so get one that offers the most warranty.

Keeping all these in mind, look for laptops. Happy life at IIT.
