Best gaming laptop under 150000 (1.5 lakh)

Oct 07, 2020

Nowadays you can find a gaming laptop for almost any budget, but to find one that not just gets the stuff done, but does it in an incredible manner is hard. At 1.5 lakh you can get RTX 2060 at the very least, and an i7 processor.  But when you are shelling out money, it is better that you shell for the best. You would have mostly by now gone through a few laptops, and have something vaguely in mind. But the thing is, it is not always about the specs.

The laptop has to be one that cools efficiently and has a display that makes the best use of the graphics card in it. We can always get a gaming monitor to pair with the laptop, but let us keep that for another day.

These are the best laptops under 1.5 lacs which we have reviewed.

  • Lenovo Legion Y740
  • ASUS ROG Strix Scar III G531GV
  • Lenovo Legion Y540
  • Acer Predator Helios 300
  • Alienware M15

With the release of RTX 30 series graphics cards the prices of gaming laptops has come down. And Lenovo Legion is one of the first laptops to offer an RTX 2070 graphics card at under 1.5 lakhs.

The laptop is powered by a 9th generation Intel Core i7-9750H processor. The processor offers excellent performance and is a hexa core processor. The six cores help in great multitasking and the laptop to work smoothly even after opening a large number of applications. The processor also helps in gaming a lot. With a base speed of 2.6GHz and a turbo clock speed of 4.5GHz, we have very little to complain about.

The laptop as we mentioned has an RTX 2070 graphics card. The graphics card is powerful and can play all the latest titles at Ultra settings. This is a feat only a few laptops of today can claim. The RTX graphics card is an 8GB graphics card and offers excellent visuals and doesn't overheat during gaming.

The laptop comes preloaded with Windows 10.  The display on the laptop is a 15.6" screen with IPS quality. It has an anti-glare coating which is helpful while using the laptop in bright lighting conditions. The display has a high refresh rate of 144Hz. Refresh rate is the rate at which the screen refreshes its content and a higher refresh rate means smoother viewing experience.

The laptop comes with 16GB of DDR4 RAM which helps in gaming and is enough for gaming use. For storage, the laptop has a 1TB SSD. The SSD gives high performance when the laptop is booting and for gaming. SSDs give more than 3x the speed of traditional HDDs and the performance is visible during loading of games and using booting.

The laptop weighs 2.2kg and is portable. It comes with a 1 year onsite domestic warranty which should give you enough peace of mind. Overall this is the best value for money performance laptop that's available in the market today.

2. ASUS ROG Strix Scar III G531GV

Asus ROG Strix Scar offers performance that can blow your mind. It has a 9th gen intel i7 processor (6 cores) with a base speed of 2.66GHz and can go all the way up to 4.5GHz with turbo boost. The laptop has a RAM 16GB, which is enough for most people (especially for gaming), but if you want even more, it is upgradable to 32GB.

But the best part is, it pairs with the latest RTX 2060, to give you out of the world experience while gaming. It has a VRAM of 6GB (RAM dedicated to the graphics card). It also has a  15.6-inch Full HD (1920x1080) anti-glare IPS-level panel with a  refresh rate of 144Hz, 3ms. It has 81.5% screen-to-body ratio, which means extremely thin bezels. The RGB lighting on the keyboard, and around the chassis, make it look extremely beautiful. Keys are individually lit and you can create custom effects to the keyboard, to make your gaming enjoyable.

One crazy feature that comes with this laptop, is that the touchpad works also as a number pad. It lights up and it is something, we haven't seen in any other laptop.  It comes preloaded with Windows 10 Home edition.

This laptop is our favourite laptop under 1.5 lakhs.

Though this is not the most beautiful laptop of all the laptops listed, this is the least expensive laptop of all the laptops listed and has the most value for money. If you are on a tight budget, this is the laptop you should opt for.

The Lenovo Legion Y740 features a 9th gen i7 (9750H) processor with a base speed of 2.6GHz and goes up to 4.5GHz. The Lenovo Legion has almost the same specs of the Asus, but a few 10K less.  It also has 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD. The screen has a refresh rate of 144Hz. The screen paired with the RTX 2060, would make your gaming sessions memorable.

We loved the fact that Lenovo has decided to go with a 1TB SSD instead of traditional drives since this increases the overall speed of the laptop tremendously. We are huge fans of SSDs as they decrease the times taken for games to load as well.

The cheapness of the laptop seeps into the build of the laptop. Lighting is not customizable, but just white. There is always a price for vanity.

4. Acer Predator Helios 300

Acer Predator Helios 300 has an Intel i7-9750H 9th Gen processor and Nvidia RTX 2060 graphics card. It has a 16GB DDR4 RAM and has two hard disks. One 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD to cater to all your storage needs.

I think while naming a laptop, it should be something that goes around this one. "Predator Helios", sounds pretty awesome. It is not just the name, this one gets the work done too.

The Acer Predator Helios also, like the rest of the laptops in this list offers a 2060 RTX graphics card, 9th gen i7 processor and 16GB of RAM. But for a change, they decided to go with only 256GB SSD and also a 1TB HDD. It features 3 USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, a type-C port, and an RJ 45 ethernet port.  Nothing too crazy fancy here.

The laptop offers a perfect combination of performance and value for money. Having an SSD and an HDD together gives great amount of storage. All of these makes the laptop more than worthy of being the best gaming laptop under 150000.

5. Alienware M15-15.6"

Anybody who has dreamed of owning a gaming laptop would have dreamed of an Alienware. This beast of a machine packs an Intel core i7-8750H paired with an Nvidia GTX 1060. It has 16 GB DDR4 RAM and a storage of 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD

Everybody who has gamed would at one point dreamed of having an Alienware. This is a dream laptop, which design which oozes perfection. The chic keyboard and that alien logo is something that people go nuts for. But is all of this worth the money you shell for it?

Alienware has a crazy build quality. But the amount of money that's shelled doesn't justify that. This beast of a machine comes with a previous-gen i7 8750H processor, paired with 16GB of RAM. The Alienware has a measly GTX 1060  for this price point, but if you're ready to shell more money, you can get better.

It has a 128GB SSD coupled with 1TB HDD for storage. The keyboard is a breeze to type on and I have always loved the Alienware keyboard.

6. ASUS ROG Strix Scar III G531GW

Ummm, you have listed this above, this is the first one on the list. Yes and no. For just a bit more money than 150,000, you can get an RTX 2070 laptop. After all, if there is anything better than getting an RTX 2060 laptop, it is an RTX 2070 laptop.

So there you go, get the AUS ROG Strix Scar III, with the RTX 2070, after all, it is not that every day you upgrade your laptop. Play all the games without worrying about your laptop becoming obsolete

Conclusion

New RTX 30 series laptops has been released and is something to look forward to. They will defenitely offer great value for money. But then they're going to be relatively more expensive. Release of new graphics cards means that the graphics card with the RTX 20 series will get cheaper by a margin.

Happy Gaming. :)
